National Canine Research Council is growing.

National Canine Research Council (NCRC) is growing. Janis Bradley, who joined NCRC last year, has been named Director of Communications and Publications. The current Director, Donald Cleary, will continue working with NCRC as a policy and research consultant. Donald co-authored both The Problem of Dog-Related Incidents and Encounters, a handbook for police responders, published by the U.S. Department of Justice, and of “Co-occurrence of potentially preventable factors in 256 dog bite-related fatalities in the United States (2000 – 2009),” a comprehensive study published in the Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association that highlights owner-controlled factors.

Watch the NCRC video library for his series of narrated presentations that will capture some of the highlights of the many talks and writings Cleary has produced over the years while working to advance NCRC’s mission to preserve  the human-canine bond.

Joining Donald as an NCRC policy and research consultant is the distinguished veterinarian and epidemiologist, Dr. Gary Patronek, a frequent contributor to the scientific literature on multiple animal welfare issues that affect the human-animal bond, pet population, and guidelines for keeping shelter animals healthy.

Combined with NCRC’s team of advisors, all leaders among the fields of science, animal services, animal welfare, the law, and community relations, this staff brings a remarkable level of expertise to current questions of how best to support the remarkable relationship between dogs and people.

We at NCRC are looking forward to advancing our mission and projects with the continued expertise of our staff, consultants, and advisors.
